We are a hard working team who focus on learning whilst having fun!
This year's Year 1 teachers are Mrs Nessa (1N), Miss Clube (1C), Mrs Khankhara (1K) and Miss Shah (1S).
We are committed and passionate about children's learning and development. Year 1 is the beginning of more focused, written work and although it's always hard for the children's transition from Reception, we believe that with hard work, patience and dedication we can make that transition easier. We are very proud of our children and amazed by all that they have achieved so far. We believe that they can only get better.
We appreciate the input that parents have in their children's learning and we are trying to extend opportunities for this to occur within school. We have lots of upcoming events, so be sure to check them out!
In Year One we love reading and listening to stories. We are working really hard to learn all our sounds to help us read. Our year group try to make sure that we read every night to help our reading develop. Come into our classrooms and have a look at our favourite story displays.
Every Thursday morning we have a parents reading morning for 20 minutes. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible into our classes to read with us!
Things to look forward to this Autumn term
We have a very exciting first term in Year 1.
We will be the very first year group in the whole school to perform assembly in November. Our special assembly this year will be all about Diwali. We are very excited to learn about this fantastic celebration full of colour, song and dance. Please make sure to come and see our performance when dates are released.
We love Share Days in Year 1, where parents are invited to join in with lots of enjoyable, creative and educational activities with their children. Our first will be a Castle Share Day for History. This is an excellent opportunity for parents and teachers to work together to inspire our children to learn whilst having fun!
Finally, we love trips in Year 1! They are an invaluable experience to learn outside the classroom and apply our knowledge in real life contexts. There are lots of wonderful trips coming up in this term which link to our learning in school. We shall be visiting the Tower of London for History, different places of worship for RE and the theatre to develop our love of stories. We are also are planning to visit Paradise Wildlife Park to see their fascinating animals for Science!
We will update our page with dates once events are confirmed and also upload pictures so you can see what we are getting up to.
Until then, please see our picture gallery to check out all the brilliant things that Year 1 got up to last year. There is so much to look forward to!
