Our progress scores, which are in the top 11% nationally for reading, in the top 10% for writing and the top 8% nationally for maths, show that our pupils make significantly above average progress between KS1 and KS2. Progress in Maths and Writing has been in the top 10% nationally for the past three years.

Pupils reaching the expected standard and the higher standard
Nearly all of our pupils achieve the expected standard in Reading, Writing, Maths and Grammar. In Maths, all pupils who were able to access the test achieved at least the expected standard. In all four areas we exceed the national average by a significant margin. We are in the top 11% in the country for writing and the top 10% for reading at the expected standard. We are in the top 9% of all schools at the expected standard in Grammar and in the top 5% for attainment at the expected standard in Maths.

We are in the top 3% of all schools at the higher standard in Grammar and in the top 8% nationally for attainment at the higher standard in Maths.

Combined reading, writing and maths:
This is a measure of the percentage of pupils who achieve the expected standard in reading, writing and maths. 88% of year 6 children met the 'expected standard' across reading, writing and maths in 2019 - a result which puts us a full 23 percentage points above the 65% national figure. 20% of our children met the more challenging 'higher standard' across reading, writing and Maths, compared to 11% nationally. We are in the top 6% of all schools nationally in terms of our combined percentage at the expected standard and in the top 11% of all schools for the higher standard.

Pupil marks are converted into scaled scores to allow for direct comparison year-on-year. A scaled score of 100 is the ‘expected standard’. The highest possible scaled score is 120. This shows that our average scaled scores are significantly higher than the ‘expected standard’ and that our pupils are, on average, working at a higher level than the national average. We are in the top 3% nationally for our Maths average scaled scores, in the top 7% nationally for our Reading average scaled scores and in the top 2% nationally for our grammar scaled scores.
