Two Elmhurst debaters impressed a crowd of distinguished business people by showing off their eloquence and quick thinking skills. Ibrahim from 6T and Saista from 5SF were invited to take part in the show debate at the famous restaurant The Ivy, in central London.
The event was a showcase held by the charity Debate Mate, which has worked with Elmhurst for many years to run our debating clubs. Both the Debate Mate staff members and the audience watching were astonished by the confidence our pupils had to take on the motion 'THBT online communication is more effective than in-person communication'.
It once again shows the valuable impact debating can have on our young people and a testament to their hard work that, at just ten years old, they are able to hold their own among adults.
