At the beginning of June, all the children from Year 1 – 6 took part in their intra-year group times table competitions (number bonds for Y1 and Y2). These basic facts are so important for all future work in maths and it is vital that they know them off-by-heart. A team from each class was randomly chosen to compete against the other classes in the year group to see who would be the champions! After some intense head-to-head rounds, the winners were: 1N, 1PK, 2A , 3A , 4F, 5R and 6P. Congratulations to the winning teams and everyone who took part. The children have all worked so hard throughout the year and it was fantastic to see their speed and competitiveness!
Following on from this, the Year 4 children also sat the very first Times Table Check which is a new national test set by the government to ensure all children know their times tables. The children have worked extremely hard on their times tables and so this is an exciting opportunity for us to try out the new system. The current Year 3 children will sit the first official test when they are in Year 4 next year. Get practising!
