Last week there was a fantastic event held here in Elmhurst where Elderly and vulnerable Newham residents who experience social isolation were being treated to a special Christmas meal. The school council worked with the Green Street team from Newham Council to run the event, this included decorations, entertainment, chatting to the guests and serving their food. It was a real success and the elderly residents commented on how fantastic the children were and their excellent behaviour. Newham resident of 40 years Prudence Heldt, 80, said: "Christmas is about spending time with family and friends but sometimes that isn't possible.
"Companionship during the festive season is a lifeline for the elderly and makes the experience magical."
