Year 6 Heart Dissection

Every year our year 6 pupils have the chance to dissect a lamb's heart as part of their science unit about human biology, something which pupils don't usually do until GCSE level. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience (although it was a bit gruesome at times) and learnt about the four chambers of the heart and the different blood vessels that lead to and from the heart. Pupils noticed a big difference between the left and the right side of the heart and were able to cut the heart open to see the inside more clearly!
