World Book Day!

Last Thursday Elmhurst Primary School was overrun by elephants, zebras, penguins and leopards! For a moment, it seemed that these animals had escaped from the zoo but actually it was Elmhurst pupils and teachers in spectacular fancy dress!

This year for World Book Day we focused on non-fiction texts about animals. We wanted to celebrate non-fiction books and think about what we can learn from reading them. Each class had a specific non-fiction text that they read and discussed with their teacher. Classes then created their own non-fiction texts.

We also held a Book People Book Fair. Thank you for coming along. It has raised around £150 for Elmhurst to buy new books for our school library!

This half term all our pupils are also visiting a local bookshop to spend their £1 World Book Day voucher. Pupils have also been lucky enough to meet children’s authors including Butler, Amelia Fang and Humza Arshad.
